Site health scans

ThemeSpot checks your site for issues and tells you, in plain words, what’s wrong and what it would change.

Ask how your site is doing

Ask in chat: “How is my site doing?” ThemeSpot sums up the current issues, grouped by what they affect:

  • Search: for example, missing page titles or meta descriptions, and broken links
  • Accessibility: for example, images with no alt text
  • Speed: for example, heavy images
  • Things that look broken to a visitor

Ask about any one issue to see which page it’s on, why it matters and what ThemeSpot would change.

Content issues: ThemeSpot fixes them

Copy, headings, alt text, links, meta descriptions, images and module settings are content, so ThemeSpot can fix them. Fixes land as drafts. You check them, then publish them yourself or ask ThemeSpot to.

Design issues: the theme editor

Some issues live in the theme itself, such as a template’s code or an image built into the theme. ThemeSpot tells you when a fix is a design change and links you to the right place in the theme editor.

Heavy images

Usually ThemeSpot fixes these by setting the image’s width and height, so HubSpot serves a file sized for each screen. If the file itself is too big, ThemeSpot can replace it with a smaller version. That changes every page using the image, so ThemeSpot first shows you the size before and after, a preview link and how many pages use it, then waits for your approval. The original is kept as a copy so the change can be undone.

How a fix is confirmed

An issue counts as resolved when the next check finds it fixed, not just because a change was made.
